ESSEC MS Financial Techniques vs St.Gallen MBA
Hi. I'm a software engineer from a Southeast Asian country wanting to switch career into finance (Asset Management or investment banking, preferably). I would prefer to work in Western Europe but Singapore or HK would be OK.
I got accepted into ESSEC's Advanced Master in Financial Techniques (Asia track) and got a partial scholarship. My application into St. Gallen's MBA is still being processed but I may have a decent shot at the scholarship. Assuming that I get the St Gallen scholarship as well, which program would be better?
ESSEC pros:
ranked #3 by FT
very quantitative
very international (1 term in France, 1 term in SG, study trips to London & HK)
ESSEC cons:
targeted for Asia, tougher to get a job in Europe
Advanced Master degree is not as widely known as an MBA
St Gallen pros:
Best chance to get a job in Switzerland
Prestigious in the German-speaking world (strongest economy in Europe)
learn some German language
St Gallen cons:
low ranking
Any thoughts or useful links? Thanks.
