The name of the game for brand name IB Soph. internships is diversity. Even if you are part of LGBTQ, you are still limited. So, don't feel bad. I am a non-target non-diversity male, and I didn't have an end of the sophomore year summer internship, and I signed with a top coverage group for SA 2021. So, I would say that you arent totally screwed. I think that networking is the big equalizer in IB applications and successful networking can really help overcome almost any deficit. for your Summer 2021, try getting any internship in IB/PE/ER/VC etc. that can be tied into why IB, and you should be good. Another thing you could do is participate in case/stock pitch competitions that can help demonstrate interest (Point72 has a big one, even Harvard has a M&A case competition). Continue to be involved in clubs on campus and you should be golden.
Thank you for your reply. Good to hear that Junior year and successful networking can overcome not getting IB sophomore year.
"High achieving non target LGBTQ white male, reporting for duty!"
Maybe you can include that in your cold emails to boutiques!!
You think you should magically get a sophomore SA because you're gay...?
Couldn't help but cringe reading your post man...
I would hopefully get it because of my resume not because I’m gay? Didn’t expect it to get me anything honestly but it would be nice if that panned out
In fairness, @Maria-I'm-Drunk" is from Australia so he's technically gay too. Also retarded. Sad!
Yeah but your from Cuckstralia which automatically makes you gay AND retarded.
Something doesn't compute here chief
also, what is his criteria for 'high achieving'?
.... wouldn't having an internship be up there (??)
I was bright enough to get into T25 schools but not bright enough to have parents who would fucking pay a dime towards college so they left me on my own
I'll respect that. Best of luck to you man - don't forget to target boutiques for your sophomore summer
This is golden ahahahahha
Why don’t you just take a chill pill and keep grinding? Why do you think you’re entitled to an internship just because you’re gay!?
Never said I was entitled to an internship because I was gay where did you derive that from?
Your opening line..? You basically complain you're not diverse enough for diversity recruiting (boo-hoo!!).
Despite all your hardship and adversity I'm sure you've faced as an LGBTQ candidate (Woah!), most people really couldn't give a shit, so it is no surprise it hasn't helped you land an internship...
