Etiquette Question for contacting recruiters at MBB and others
I'm curious what the email etiquette is for emailing someone that you do not know. I am already in talks with Bain, but what to put my feelers out to other top consultancies. I am one year out of undergrad and in my last year with Teach For America.
I am eager to get into strategy/management consulting after my completion of the Teach For America program. Is it appropriate to search for senior recruiters online and email them with my interest? How about partners and managing directors? Is that going too far? Or should I be a "grab the bulls by the horn" kind of person in this situation....
There may be somewhat of an uphill battle compared to people who are just graduating since most of these firms seem to hire allot of returning interns or people just graduating. It definitely possible but youll want to ramp up your networking efforts. Don't just contact people one firm at a time, go all out and consider your networking somwhat of a full or at least part time job. Last resort will be to look at a good mba programs. Also USE THE SEARCH FUNCTION at the top of this page as well as the FAQ section on networking. There is also a networking guide you can purchase on this site and loads of other information you can search for.
