European target schools (comprehensive list)
Hello, after having discovered WSO a few weeks ago, I have come to realize that there is no comprehensive list of European target schools for Investment banking...
Could someone kindly provide us with a list (featuring targets, semi-targets and tiers in each category)?
I think it would help many European students as there is a lot of talk about US targets but not much for Europe (which is understandable, WSO having more members living in USA).
Depends on the program but for MFin/MiMs it's the usual suspects.
Top tier: Oxbridge, LSE, HEC, Bocconi, Imperial
Then you have others that are quite good but not in the top such as UCL, SSE, IE, ESADE etc.
You then move onto the regional targets e.g. CBS for Scandinavia, Nova for Portugal, WSE for CEE etc. Plenty of rankings out there
To be added to your list:
Top tier: LBS and INSEAD.
Second tier: St Gallen, ESSEC , ESCP, Paris Dauphine, IMD.
Third tier: EMLyon, EDHEC, IESE, Warwick, Cass, Rotterdam
All of these being in the target school category?
WhIch category does WHU comes in? Its a top regarded school right?
EMLyon, EDHEC, Cass are semi targets, not full on targets
After having read these comments, it seems to be:
Tier 1: LBS, INSEAD, LSE, Oxbridge, LSE and HEC, Imperial
Tier 2: UCL, ESADE, ESSEC, ESCP, Paris Dauphine, IE, IMD and St Gallen
Tier 3: EMLyon, EDHEC, IESE, Warwick, Cass, Rotterdam
Maybe someone could give their opinion about this ranking? What needs to be added/moved? Also, how do these schools rank in their given tier?
INSEAD is a bit rogue because it's basically only a target for Assoc recruiting.
Check out my profile I did a large thread few months ago about it.
I was just about to say. There's been a few not so successful thread previously, but your list was both comprehensive and had a lot of comments that were relevant. Shit hasn't changed that much in 6 months time.
European B-Schools (Originally Posted: 10/14/2013)
I am from the UK and am looking to do a masters in Finance (pre-experience). But if I proceed to do one I want to go abroad to study. This is because I want to learn a foreign language and be part of a different culture.
However I want to work in London after graduation.
I didn't study maths or economics at uni and don't speak two languages to can't go to HEC Paris or ESCP.
Are schools such as IE, Esade, Edhec, Essec and HEC Lausanne well known in London and as respected as Cass, Warwick, LSE and co?
They are higher on the ft rankings, but that doesn't mean they have a good reputation in the city.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance
Pre or post experience ? The LBS MIF is post experience and lets you study abroad
Sorry i should have said, pre experience.
From your knowledge does Cass have a good reputation? I don't want to go there but I have been lead to believe that they have a good relationship with the city compared to other european schools.
i have no idea - im american so i only had looked at and considered LBS and I'm a post experience guy which furtherlimits things lol :( i have heard its name mentioned as being good although not top tier?
ye that's what I've come to believe, a step below lbs, oxford, hec. What's annoying is that I've looked through Esade and IE and think they're really good schools but have had some feedback that points towards a poor relationship with London. Did you end up doing a MSc in Finance and if so did you find it worthwhile??
Get conversational in an easy language and go to INSEAD.
Sorry I didn't mention in my original post that I'm looking at pre-experience masters. INSEAD is a really good school but unfortunately for me do not do a pre-experience masters.
doing MBA:) and cfa.
