European Master in Management programs: worth it for IB and MBB?

I'm an undergrad at Bocconi university in Milan, looking to jump start an international career outside of Italy . Given the optionality they provide and the interest I have in business and finance, I'd like to start working in IB in London or MBB (also internationally)

Accordingly, how do you experienced monkey consider a Master in Management (from LBS and the like, top tier programs) vs a Master in Finance also from a top european uni?

Thanks!

Top Tier European pre-experience masters will get you in the door for IB and MBB jobs, either within their home country or London if you are willing to put in the networking effort.

Depends on what degrees you are referring to. A Masters in Management at LBS is considered pre-experience (post-uni), whereas their Masters in Finance is after you have a few years of work experience.

Don't mean to be rude but not sure what else you are asking. A quick perusal of their recruitment reports will show how many went into consulting / IB, and which firms.

Was wondering if it makes sense to study management rather than something more quantitative and "hard skill" heavy such as finance, and then later on pursue an MBA

  • What is your background?

  • What are your professional goals?

  • Why do you need a MIM or Msc. if you are already at Bocconi? You should be able to land an MBB or IB job in London from there already.

  1. Male, white, GPA equivalent of 3.7/8, bachelor in econ and finance, two internships at small shops in Italy (one quite big Italian MM PE fund)
  2. IB/Consulting (preference towards MBB obviously) mainly for the learning curve and optionality later on, long term goal PE after or before an MBA
  3. Basically another shot at recruitment for more established firms, plus not really in a hurry to start working shitty hours right away so why not?
