Evercore mining advisory group?

Anyone know anything about this group? Deal flow, culture, comp, size of group, etc. Understand it’s a fairly new group with the SMD / MD poached from competitors in 2019 or so, but can’t seem to find any additional info on the group

Heard it’s the most chill group at EVR in terms of work life balance, which tells you how little dealflow the team has. But this was a year and a half ago and things could be drastically different now

I’m at another boutique right now where PE recruiting varies by coverage. At EVR, is there substantial difference in PE opps depending on group or does everyone get pretty solid looks?

Not a good mining team at all. Haven't heard of them working on anything other than the Rock Tech private placement.

Can concur. They're trying to find a niche in battery metals but doesn't seem to be working. Simply can't compete with the other big mining banks like BMO or GS Natural resources.

Got an invitation for a first round - wondering if anyone can provide further color on the group. There is very little online about deal flow and coverage.
Heard the interview process includes a modelling test, also curious to know hear from anyone who has done it. Lastly, given how limited deal flow seems to be, does anyone have intel on comps and exits ?

what's your background like, do you have mining exp? have heard it's a very small team, like only the head guy and maybe 2 other mid/senior folks, not much junior support. shows slow deal flow and probably not good exits

would be curious how they do bonuses in a dry group like that

how did you first round go and what did you learn? i just got an invite for a junior analyst role and would love to hear what you got

Junior analyst? Looks like they are only recruiting for VP and associate

I’m pretty active in the mining space and have literally never run into these guys

Heard through the grapevine that due to the pending recession (think coronavirus) the bulk of the '20 nyc analyst class had to exit to coal mines in Vietnam. Such is the nature of cyclical industries like Mining & Metals.

StreetLifer

Seen these guys more in the last year - they did the Apollo / Arconic sale and have been on a couple of other big things. Feels like they got a slow start into Covid but are picking up. Looks like they have been adding to the team lately, too

Streetlife and Thebestbanker is clearly the same jokester that works in this joke of a team

I’m in the space and know someone who interviewed with these guys. Interviews were apparently technical and included a model test. Seems like they’ve been on some pretty interesting deals, particularly in a very slow banking environment: Arconic/Apollo, some big restructurings (Murray Energy was a huge restructuring they were on a few years back). Seen them on the battery metals side too: LG Chem investment into Piedmont Lithium, acquisition of a pretty significant lithium company in Quebec… lots of battery metals capital raises too - they’ve probably been the most active of any other bank in that space.

how lame can you be - clearly one of the jokes working in this joke team with no deals. i actively cover the space and this is one of the teams that probably hasn't done much in the space. too bad it's one of the profiles where the EB or banks want to recruit a name from another shop in order to grow their firm but hasn't gone as expected
