Evercore NY vs Citi HK

Hi Guys,

The title speaks for itself, but before we start shooting off about this, let me add some context.

This is for the summer analyst role.

I want to end up in Asia eventually, more specifically Singapore.

There's 2 options available now for me, EVR NY & Citi HK.

My motive is to learn as much as possible, and work with big deals.

Love the people at EVR NY, like the people at Citi HK.

If I give up Citi HK, which is a strong bank in Asia, I probably won't get another shot at it because HR will probably put a target on my back.

Yet if I choose Citi HK, I won't be able to recruit for the accelerated timeline for EVR NY this coming summer, so that means giving up EVR NY for good as well.

What do you guys think?

Good luck on the offers.

Evercore NY will give you better experience on deal/modeling IMO. Its easy to go from Evercore to BB in NY. That being said, I'm not sure if Evercore will guarantee a lateral hire in HK but since learning/deal are what you are looking for you should take Evercore over Citi HK.

In longer term, EB/BB experience in NYC will open lots of door for you in Asia. Congrats again!

if you want to stay at HK, choose Citi. we are in a different period nowadays. A NY IBD experience may not be an advantage than previously thought. in fact, it may hurt you when you do full time search. if you work hard, it is very likely that you will get return offer from Citi. however, if you are not so sure about going back to HK, Evercore will open more opportunities in US for you.
