Interesting, never thought of it that way. No idea, sadly.

Expert Network to Research position (Originally Posted: 11/21/2017)
Hey guys
I have a 2nd round interview with a expert network in NYC. I'm from Florida. I was wondering if it's worth taking this job to gain experience and relocate to NYC? I know I'm thinking a couple steps ahead of the process, but that's just the kind of person I am.
Hi Nils UK, the silence is deafening, sorry about that.... Any of the threads below helpful?
More suggestions...

Curious as to what you decided to do. Did you did you take the job? If so, how did it play out for you?
Don't do this job. A good friend of mine works there and it's basically cold calling / emailing 'experts' so they can speak with consultants or hedge funds to extract insights about a very niche industry. For example, we've used their network when preparing a diligence surrounding the accounts payable industry for a fintech acquisition...
I would steer clear of these types of roles. Absolutely no tangential value to the buyside or consulting
Hi
i have a deep finance background from univ and if i consider adding a CFA and intense networking (with HF or PE that AS works with), do you think this job is worthwhile for me as a way to break into PE?
Agree with Holdthedoor. Have a family member who works for Alphasights in London: from what I understand, they pay relatively well and have somewhat decent incentive schemes (at the junior level at least), however develop no technical skillset in their employees. Role does indeed boil down to connecting so-called experts (sourced from either from a proprietary database or from cold-calling leads) to paying firms in search of niche advice. The whole "expert networks" description is overdone: it's knowledge broking. What's more, because it's essentially the broking of people, no product or market knowledge is required. I'd say a slim-to-no chance of transitioning into consulting, let alone a front-office PE job.

Frankly, no.
If you take the job and still manage to transition to whatever finance role you ultimately want to do, that would be more a function of you taking the CFA (where, again, I think the value-add is questionable) and networking than the job itself.
The job would essentially just be a means of paying the bills while you pull off the transition.
