RE Asset Management Analyst exit opps

For someone starting a career in RE Asset Management as an Analyst, what exit opps are available after working a year?

I hear the transition to acquisitions in pretty smooth, but what about entry into ibanks and advisory roles?

All in I probably spent 6 months from deciding it was time to find the next gig to just within the last couple of weeks getting settled into new role. Went through a bunch of processes, dinged on some and declined on others - coming from a big shop i was wary of going boutique and getting stuck there forever. Also coming from REPE you cap out role wise after a while (in my experience) so staying internal didn't work great - so was time for a new shot for me but i've seen more often than not depending on the kind of shop you're in the internal transfers work great for a lot of guys.

Yeah, so I'm in retail asset management with a large REIT with assets all over the country.

Do you think this industry is "esoteric" enough to get me opportunities in acquisitions at other shops or investment banking analyst jobs?
