Don't do this. Don't worry about salary this early in your career. I say this because I didn't receive a bonus for three years working at GS/Citadel during a particularly terrible couple of years for commodities trading, but now am working $100mm+ deals on my own with BX/KKR/Citadel/Sequoia with Founders who turned down BB engagements.

Go for the brand name, network, challenge, etc. and the money will come in time.

You can try to negotiate with firm B that is not your 1st choice...but realize that they might just respond with "not interested" and then you lose the offer entirely. At which point, you just have to accept the offer from firm A.

I would suggest keeping you ask to something reasonable. If they offered you 150k base....you can say you were expecting something higher around 300k. This all depends on what you have to offer. If there are 10 other people who can easily replace you, they might just laugh. However, if you weren't going to accept their offer in the first place, then it doesn't hurt to ask (you were going to turn them down anyway, right?)

also, don't be an asshole....you might get layed off and need to apply at this firm in the future.
