Exploring Opportunities
I would like advice on transitioning my career out of the retail wealth management space. I have been a financial advisor for 7 years. I have the CFP(R) designation and I am a Level 1 candidate in the CFA program. I will sit for the test in December. I would like to explore opportunities beyond being a FA. I was wondering if anyone here has made such a transition. I have interest in equity, fixed income and alternatives(research and portfolio management). Having said this, I am unsure of my future career path and was hoping to receive some guidance from others using this site. Have any members made a transition from retail wealth management? What positions would be a good fit for someone making this transition. I have a blend of both soft and analytical skills, but no experience beyond the retail channel.
Any and all advice is greatly appreciated.
If you pulled in obscene amounts of aum, you could possibly make the jump as a relationship manager. If you want something more on the investing side, you're going to need to know everyone's mother and father (I.e. Networking hard as fuck). Or you could try to get into the top 5 mba
