Factset vs CapIQ

Hi All,

My team is looking to switch data providers and are considering between Factset and CapIQ. I only have experience with Factset so I'm keen to hear from people in banking who have had recent experience on both platforms.

Which one is better? Any comments / colour you can provide in terms of the below features would be greatly appreciated.

  1. User-interface

  2. Fundamental data, estimates

  3. Real-time market data / news

  4. Broker Research

  5. Screening Tool (trading and transaction comps)

  6. Excel plugin & coding

  7. Access from any device (computers, mobiles, remote browsers)

  8. Best templates

Thank you!

This is my view after having used both, overall I did like more Factset but this is very personal

  1. User-interface: Factset

  2. Fundamental data, estimates: Factset

  3. Real-time market data / news: Mmm maybe CapIQ? Not sure I usually run newsrun in Factiva

  4. Broker Research: Factset is top-notch

  5. Screening Tool (trading and transaction comps): Factset for trading comps, never used it it  transaction comps tho

  6. Excel plugin & coding: Factset

  7. Access from any device (computers, mobiles, remote browsers) : Computer + remote browser Factset & CapIQ works well, no idea about mobile device

  8. Best templates: Factset
