What is the fanciest hotel or resort you’ve been to? If not fancy are there particular hotels or resorts that have stood out to you?
For me personally the Gaylord resort in DC is one of the best resorts I’ve been to.

Career Resources
A few years ago, stayed at a small 'boutique' hotel in France - maybe 10 or 11 rooms, owned by a very nice couple. Had the feeling that you owned an apartment in the city itself and you weren't staying at a hotel. Great breakfast as well - all for maybe half to a third of the price you'd pay for a hotel. It was awesome. Not in Paris either - Lyon, which if people haven't gone I highly, highly recommend.
I'd do it again and recommend a similar route - whenever I've done that or an Airbnb type place I've always felt like I've gotten more of an 'experience' than shacking up at the four seasons. Nothing wrong with that route - but take a flyer if you get the chance. Might be in 2025 - but something to look forward to!

Edition hotels are amazing. Anything Ian Schraeger is a safe bet. You have taste!
Didn't stay at the Edition in Time Square BUT when our intern class got our offer letters one morning last summer, we were done for the summer so a few of us had brunch in the gorgeous banquet style restaurant upstairs - had a beautiful 360 degree veranda and was a sunny warm summer morning. Had a very enjoyable call home to let my parents know I got the offer and was already two cocktails in
Low key jealous, in person superdays seem awesome. Prob a bit more nerve wracking than talking to a computer screen, but still seems like its totally worth it.

I got to go there twice and it was sorta underwhelming. Was nearly a thousand dollars per night so I could have spent my money better.

Gonna guess and say 3/4 were consulting related? Jealous either way.
All for vacation actually! Ones for business tend to be in the outer parts of cities. Best one I've been to so far has been the Live Aqua Urban Resort in Mexico City. They had this cool thing where they'd put a small tray of lemon and orange slices with a Mezcal bottle (400 Conejos) on a small table on each floor for guests to enjoy at night before going to bed. Certainly put me to sleep.

I grew up in a hospitality family so I have experienced a lot of really nice hotels, but the consensus was that the Waldorf Astoria in Ras Al Khaimah is by far the nicest/most luxurious that we have stayed at so far
This seems pretty cool. There was one point where I was thinking about majoring in hospitality/hotel management so I could just travel in my 20s and visit a lot of cool hotels and then later get an MBA to reset and pursue a more typical role when I wanted to settle down. Ended up deciding against it which in hindisght was a good thing considering the pandemic.

Definitely did. DC is one of those cities with so much to do in so little time.
On a side note to cut costs the next time I went to DC i decided to stay in Baltimore (still a cool big city I thought) and take the train up to DC for day trips. Couple of bar fights happened near to where I was staying with broken glass everywhere and the cops had to be called in (and I was staying in downtown). Pretty crazy and unfortunately limited me going out in the evenings. Don't know if it was poor luck or that's how it is in downtown Baltimore.

One highlight was taking an off road driving course in a Range Rover HSE. The instructor wouldn’t let me go really fast though.

Already stated multiple times but +1 to the SLS Beverly Hills. I've also heard nothing but gushing about the Royal Malewane in South Africa, though it is quite a pricey trip.

St. Regis in Bali- you get a small house on the property, with a butler, private plunge pool, surrounded by a lagoon with swim access, with swim up bar, right on the beach....$500/night best hotel i've ever been to

Nicest I’ve been to in no particular order: 1. St Regis Bal Harbour 2. Miami Beach EDITION 3. Ritz Carlton Key-Biscayne 4. Ritz Carlton Aruba 5. Ritz Carlton NOLA 6. Windsor Court (NOLA) 7. 1 Hotel SoBe 8. Ritz Carlton Chicago Probably blanking on others.
I really want to check out the Ritz-Carlton Reserves (Phulay Bay, Dorado Beach, Zadun). I also am really trying to get to Amanzoe, Amanyara, and Amangiri at some point. Any Aman is going to be insane though. I have a list of about 30 others I will have to add later.
1 Hotel SoBe looks amazing, need to visit there soon.
I personally prefer the EDITION, but 1 hotel is in a slightly better location. The Faena is not far from the EDITION and is also suuuper cool. That’s one I forgot to add. Avoid ritz sobe. So many better options (for south beach and for ritz) in the area
Big perk of the st Regis is that they’ll drive you to south beach in a fuckin Bentley car service for free. driver in a suit and everything. That and the butler for the room. Pretty ridiculous amenities but the crowd is a bit stuffy for my taste.
Why the EDITION? Planning on visiting over the next few months so I'd appreciate any other commentary as well.

Social crowd is best at places like 1 hotel or EDITION. I prefer the EDITION because there is more green space and better common areas, so it’s a bit more relaxing of a resort. 1 hotel is pretty awesome and you won’t be disappointed. The crowd there is great. But I still prefer the EDITION for a few reasons. Matador room (the main restaurant) is fantastic and is definitely better than Watr or the restaurant options at the 1 hotel, also, given 1 hotels location the prices are materially higher. Larger common areas and green space make for a more relaxing vibe. The EDITION also has “Basement” which has a night club, bowling alley, and ice skating rink, so you can stay on property and still get nightlife. That being said it’s few blocks away from 1 hotel which means it’s in less of a “happening area” though still walkable to said happening areas. Also walkable to Faena which has a great vibe and dining options. I prefer the EDITION location because it lends itself to a more vacation experience as opposed to party experience. If you’re looking to do a bachelor party or something with the intent of partying, I’d probably consider 1 hotel or even W SoBe which are in more prime locations in terms of walking to ocean drive and etc.
Fwiw, Miami Beach EDITION and the WeHo/Times Sq EDITIONS have been mentioned on this thread numerous times, I have not seen anyone mention 1 hotel except for me. The 1 hotel rooms are fucking massive though, probably easier to fit a group of bros in a 1 hotel room vs EDITION, though I still prefer the EDITION,

Hotel Saturnia in Venice, Italy. Not a big famous hotel, but it really embodied a lot of charm and history that Venice has. The hotel is over six hundred years old, but very well-maintained with lots of unique character from furniture that looks handcrafted to the massive fireplaces to the balconies overlooking the canals and to the classic venetian blown glass chandeliers. Other hotels in Venice likely offer something of the same or similar magnitude, but it's just such a unique experience staying in a hotel like this since other cities tend to have hotels with more modern styles.

The Omnia in Zermatt, Switzerland - unreal views. Highly recommend Zermatt in general.
Six Senses Laamu in Maldives
Been to: The Pierre in New York. Their rotunda is absolutely beautiful.
Stayed at: idk. I've stayed at some Intercontinentals in NYC, LA, and Bali. Well known luxury brands can be super cheap in Asia compered to their western locations.
Bucket list: Kempinski Moscow, Four Seasons NYC Midtown, Park Hyatt Shanghai, Grand Hyatt Shanghai, Marina Bay Sands Singapore, Ritz Carlton Hong Kong (I have a thing for skyscraper hotels), the Savoy London, Four Seasons Paris, Hotel de Paris, and some others.
Burj Al Arab and the Jumeriah Beach Hotel in Dubai definitely take the cake on that one. Also been to the Emirates Palace but not stayed there. Someone in my family was a mentor to a young sheik, and he flew us all out to visit twice and covered the bill. I was pretty young, but this was just a level of luxury I rarely even see from the outside. You get a fuckin butler at the Burj, and there is never a point where you are out of reach of a phone in your room if you want to order anything. Jumeriah Beach Hotel is the best place to be a kid--there is a waterpark called Wild Wadi next door that you get infinite access to. It was sick. Its fuckin Dubai.
The Arts in Barcelona is also pretty sick. Nice hotel, and being a stone's throw from Pacha/Opium and the beach was fun.
