Faux Pas? European HF Placement

Looking to do a spring placement at a well-known European hedge fund (Amundi, Brevan Howard, Man, etc.) but I'm having a bit of trouble getting through to people... I've done previous HF gigs, including one right now in Hong Kong - so this isn't just a completely random thing. I was wondering if there are any European monkeys out there who could give me some advice? How should I go about getting my foot in the door, or at least getting these guys on the phone?

I feel like I'm committing some sort of faux pas without knowing it...
