Favorite Joe Rogan Episodes?

Mine is with Jeff Evans (#977) who was a rescue climber on Mt. Everest.

What are yours? I've just recently started listening to him and they're great.

On a real note: I enjoy that Joe is allowing politicians (Andrew Yang, Bernie Sanders, Dan Crenshaw etc.) to be on the show to discuss policy issues at length. I'm hoping in the future that we'll get away from the sound bite-esk types of debates that the Networks currently hosts.

you should start a podcast

It's on the list, but getting the technical shit set up is my hinderance and I have a lot of irons in the fire. That's so funny, I was just thinking about this while driving like an hour ago. If somebody came and set up the software end of shit for me, I'd do it for sure. It would be like 25% real estate interviews and 75% whoever I find interesting or funny.

probably ron miscavage. He is an ex scientologist who speaks out against his son David Miscavage who runs the church. Anyway scientology has brainwashed and extorted people, yet members of the church will blindly obey everything. Long story short I live in manhattan and one day I was kinda of drunk getting on the train and I notice this lady reading an L ron Hubbard book. So I was like you realize your reading a book by a plagairist? And she immediately goes on the defense starts arguing I need to go visit an actual church. I than bring countless bits and pieces of information about scientology hurting people and she says its all lies to make money. I than say that people usually dont actually make a lot of money off digital journalism. Finally she got really angry at me and called me a religious bigot and I decided to leave. I def wouldnt have done that sober but I was curious to see how she would react. I could def sense that there was a cult like aspect and response to her beliefs much like Miscavage said.

Oh dude that episode where Hanibal got drunk and decided to get into an intellectual debate with Sam Harris was gold.

Why do people hate him? I only know him from Rogan where he gets drunk and says hilarious shit. So I'm not at all upset by this fella.

Fuck that guy. And fuck the Stuff You Should Know guys. I got in a heated email confrontation with one of them. They do this bullshit tertiary amount of research on serious subjects that matter a lot to some people that some people know a lot about. About topics that matter to the world. And this bullshit tertiary research pulls up a bunch of bullshit misconceptions and straight up falsehoods that would be revealed as such if they actually sunk their teeth into a subject. They haven't tasked themselves with creating new ideas. They are just regurgitators. And they suck at that even. 'Oh, but Goldie, they don't have time.' OK, then go work at a radio station. Maybe this task isn't up your alley. So I got in a heated debate over their UV radiation episode. I sent them some facts and sources contradicting a lot of what they said and they replied with a bunch of soft emotional garbage and finally, in all caps, wrote some shit about 'TELL THAT TO MY AUNT WHO'S DYING OF MELANOMA'. Just reeked of incompetence and emotional frailty.

And that Adam asshole, or his team of 19-year-old gender studies majors or whoever, does even less research than them and speaks with even more annoying, arrogant, self-important, and most importantly - completely manufactured - confidence.

Oh but anyway, the reason I came here: How come Rogan and Tim Ferris have never done a podcast together? Is there a beef?

I've enjoyed the recent pods with politicians (namely Dan Crenshaw and Bernie) where both have time to get into policy/world view in details, and in turn, come off far more thoughtful and less bombastic than their stump speeches. I've never been a Bernie fan but he was far more composed and coherent than I expected

"I don't know how to explain to you that you should care about other people."

Really? Bernie came off like a completely out-of-touch man of fairly average intellect and above-average hubris. He has no business leading men.

And Dan Crenshaw said it's easy for regular citizens to disarm someone carrying an AR-15, but yes Bernie is out of touch because he says healthcare is a human right in every developed country except this one.

It's not Bernie's bullshit, it's America's bullshit - this will become the taxpayer's problem. $1.6 trillion in student debt and the average student loan is 60% greater than 15 years ago while the real median household income has barely budged. 25% of all student loan debtors cannot keep up with payments - this is expected to hit 40% by 2023.

So you want me to pay for your education is what you're getting at. I paid for my own. You should too. But you think you're entitled to an education and I don't agree.

I have $0 in student loans. However, I realize (as you should too) that the student loan burden is crushing a middle class which already is experiencing little to no real wage growth and declining career opportunities due to automation and offshoring. The plutocrats in this country have benefited immensely from a rigged system - leveling out the playing field a little through a relatively benign

Nobody was coerced into their student loans. A lot of people made a bet, based largely off of the desire to conform and a lack of foresight, and that bet is playing out poorly. Myself and a lot of other people made bets in other directions that are playing out much more favorably. Myself and a lot of other people chose sensible degrees at sensible public schools and worked all through high school and college to afford it. We're better off for it in many ways. It's not logical at all that people who choose to trade financial instruments should be taxed to uplift the wealthiest, most self-entitled middle class population in the world. Even if these people were starving to death, which they are far from, I'd say let them. Maybe their kids won't be such idiot conformists.

Let me ask you a two-part question: Do you believe in personal responsibility? If so, to what extent?

You cannot possibly believe this. America maybe has the most entitled welfare class in the world, but the middle class has gotten destroyed by immigration, NAFTA, and central bank policies that rig the game in favor of those who are already worth 8+ figures. High velocity trading adds zero value to the economy - America is in desperate need of entrepreneurship and all these people cannot become entrepreneurs if student loans are drowning them.

Also, would you rather pay for it? American taxpayers WILL cover these defaults if we don't create a policy to handle it. Do you realize most of the loans are backed by the Federal government i.e you and I? It is inevitable that the American taxpayers are going to be left holding the bag which includes you.

I totally agree that many of these people made stupid decisions and financed themselves through school including their living costs without considering working. I empathize with how frustrating this must be to those like yourself. However, the cat is out of the bag and YOU will be left cleaning up the mess is nothing is done. Instead of the middle class again taking the hit, just like when Obama bailed out all the investment bankers with TARP, we need to offload this onto people who can afford a small tax.

Made it through 20 mins of the Bernie one. Turned it off when he failed to go into the history of why we have the lobbying aspect of the political system, since that is one of the main tenets of his whole philosophy.

Joe Rogan is very entertaining, and I love how he's open minded about having a wide range of guests on. Sometimes however he really fails to do even basic research and talks out his ass, when even a casual Google search could have clued him in. Examples: saying Patrick Baboumian didn't have a European record and just measured his weightlifting in the backyard. The dude holds multiple European and global titles. Examples: half the sh*t he says about diet is totally off, and shows a total lack of prep, and just quoting pseudo-science / bro-science. Still, most of the time he's quite entertaining and he won't shy away from having a wide range of guests on, and that's really admirable. He's also really good at getting people to open up. So, props.

What do you disagree with him about on nutrition? He doesn't do his own research, but he curates guests who are mostly extremely on top of shit in the fitness and nutrition department. You don't like what Rhonda Patrick has to say?

He also makes no claim to be an educator or even informed on anything outside of martial arts and comedy. Unlike the Stuff You Should Know dickwads or Adam Ruins Everything. He doesn't even pretend he's an expert in bowhunting while being a 99th percentile hunter. He gets together and bullshits with his buddies. You can't stop to google shit all the time while having a free-flowing, hilarious conversation. And Jamie is pulling shit up all the time. He does have experts on but you can't be upset at the guy for speculating about shit. Speculation is fun. We get together with people and laugh and speculate about shit. That's what humans do.

"What do you disagree with him about on nutrition? "

There's a ton of stuff he states as matter-of-fact about nutrition that is either highly debatable or just empirically wrong. Bascially, I have the same issue about him as you have about Adam. I could go into specific cases, but that's not the point - the point is the overall lack of prep or adherence to easily researchable facts.

So many great episodes with celebrities [Henry Rollins, Joey Diaz, Bill Burr] and journalists [Tim Pool, Michael Pollan, Abby Martin] that I enjoy and admire, but every episode with Gad Saad [evolutionary psychologist] or Chris Kresser [investigative medicine and health] are eps that I have listened to more than once, because of all the insights and information on the topics discussed.
