Listened to Bill Burr's podcast the other day. He talked about when he was taking drum lessons from an older guy, and the guy talked to him about his life growing up. Bill was miffed to learn about the stuff the guy did, and the guy told him:

I always find it interesting how we think the past is so different, yet it's mainly the same.

It's a nice concept, but he should have chosen a different example. In practice, women did not lose the right to retreat behind their powder puff, and they never will, because men will always want to fuck them, and this nonsense of pretending that gender differences are primarily social constructed is willful ignorance, denial of hard scientific truth, and possession by ideology.
