Feedback on Plan for Entering Pharmaceutical Equity Research?
After receiving an offer to start as a broker trainee at an NY bank that primarily handles biotech stock, I'm going to live my dream of being a broker for a few years. However, the news about quants and algorithm-based trading looks like it'll replace a lot of brokers, so I'm going to play it safe and use my experience to transition to equity research.
Given my background, I'm seeking feedback on whether doing so will provide me with the right skillset for entering pharmaceutical equity research. I have a BS in biochemistry (target), an MS in pharmacology (top 10 public school), and an MSc in drug development/pharmaceutical science (Oxford). My research has been on the modulation of drug targets (MS), drug pipeline for Alzheimer's and methods for evaluating drug's effectiveness (MSc). I don't have any employment experience in the financial industry, only in patient care and labs. Thanks-
