+1 my pal, youre def not alone. There is just so much of the process that's not in your control. You submit your CV, maybe send out an email or 2 to some people at the bank/firm... and then you just wait. It also doesn't help that the current market isnt friendly to hiring and its really just the same few places trying to fill the same vacant roles. So essentially, you just spend your day searching to maybe find 1 role worth applying to and then that process drags along. All this is further made worse if you really hate your current gig or if youre unemployed.
I'm not sure how to make it "better", but yea you aren't alone on this one. I can only imagine how stressful the job search process was post 2008, so I guess it could always be worse.
Thanks my G. Always helps to hear from others.
yea its depressing as fuck....you feel pretty helpless i imagine and i imagine whenever you get a rejection it must hurt a lot
but dude you gotta keep your head up, its easy to say this but if you don't give up you'll eventually get somewhere good
good luck my guy and don't give up the hard work even though it feels pointless at times
Have been searching for a job for close to 2 years EVEN before COVID hit.
I come from a dead-end job (Fund of Funds). It is mighty tough to get out.
The worst part is seeing others who had the foresight to move quickly into jobs with in-demand skillsets and you are just stuck wasting away at a crappy place.
Good luck pal
Yes I feel like shit. I've had plenty of interviews, made it through the final rounds for a few and was rejected, even after getting great feedback during and after the interviews. It sucks when you think you did really well and get a rejection, not knowing at all why you were rejected. It also sucks when you're ghosted.
I know something will workout though.
Sounds a lot like dating. The rejection and ghosting part.
I applied to 150 jobs since May and just got my first offer letter for F500 Corp fin today. Keep your head up my dude your time will come if you keep grinding
congrats!
Had final rounds scheduled with a few places back in March/April then the processes got canceled altogether. Hundreds of applications all over the country, had many first rounds, a few second rounds, a few that I was stoked on and told directly I would be a good fit only to be ghosted. I'm lucky enough that I can live with my parents and not need to worry about money. But almost all my friends are engineers and got great job offers before the pandemic. They're all located across the country and we all talk close to every day but god damn it's lonely and depressing. I just want to work, but every day looks the same and my hobbies haven't interested me in months so I'm stuck doing apps and doing interview prep. Need a change of scenery, but there's nowhere to go. I keep telling myself to only concern myself with what I can control like preparedness and a good attitude when an interview comes around, but it's getting exhausting.
