Feeling Miserable: Seeking Advice on Next Move

Hi Guys,

I graduated in 2014 from a semi-target. While there, I recruited for IB roles and landed an offer that unfortunately got rescinded right before graduation. After I graduated I managed to get a corporate finance role and I have been working in this sector for 3 years across two roles (FP&A and Operations / Analytics). I don't particularly like my job and I have been extremely bored with my responsibilities. Furthermore, my company I am with right now offers very little in terms of upward mobility.

Over the past 4-5 months I have tried to move into a higher paying/more interesting job and have had some traction. I have networked with Equity Research and Corp Dev jobs and made it to an ER superday at a MM (in my sector) as well as a Corp Dev case study (out of my sector) and two first-round corp dev interviews. The problem I keep running into is that everybody in corp dev wants ex-bankers / consulants, and the only ER analysts willing to give me an interview are in my niche sector. Given that I am a few years out of school, I figure IB/S&T/HF/PE are not possible.

Really hoping to find some help here as to what direction I should head in. Saving b-school as a last-resort backup option a couple years down the line but really dont want to have to go due to financial/logistic reasons as well as general aversion to academia.

You can still get IB/PE/HF interviews while in CF. Give it a shot.

Its a long shot, but you can still go to interviews (if you get interviews).
