Female Associate caught me staring at her boobs

Prospect in IB-M&A

Hey Guys,

I am in no way a pervert or anything, but during a team meeting a female associate caught me staring at her boobs (I really didn't mean to). I could see from her reaction that she thought that it was totally inappropriate. How do I handle this situation? Should I speak to her the next time and apologize?

definitely speak to her and give her an honest apology and take responsibility for the situation (even if you just zoned out and happened to be staring there)

Holy shit I can't think of anything more painfully embarrassing or out of touch than apologizing to a girl you work with for glancing at her boobs

OP given the timing this is most likely a troll, but just move on assuming this actually happened

I don't see why you would do anything about this, you looked at someone's boobs so what? If She has a huge problem shouldn't be out there. Just don't touch, I mean if you were zoned out starring for like a few mins that's just weird and at that point don't bring it up because you'd sound like a weirdo. I see girls look at me some time, no big deal long as they don't slap my ass or something

This happens a lot but by accident, and of course there's different degrees of accidents and some are worse than other but I don't see this as the worse of offences based on the way you have describe it. I think just let this blow over and act as how you would normally act around her. Apologising to her is only going to make this situation even more awkward, and if you start to avoid her then actually it makes this situation even worse. I don't think she's expecting you to come over and apologise so I would advice against it.

Absolutely don't apologize. If you apologize you are admitting fault. Do you apologize every time you walk in a few min late? Of course not, you don't want to draw attention to yourself and admit that you did something wrong

Just avoid her and don't do it again, any attempt to explain may be rejected or taken the wrong way.

Go with flow on this 1. Just act like everything is normal. It's not a big deal

absolutely...pull her aside to someplace private where just the 2 of you are alone..and tell her

"i'm sorry i was staring at your breasts...i just couldn't help myself...i'll try to resist in the future"

Ask if you can touch them next time you see her, should do the job

Do NOT apologize bro. This happens. Just act casual and normal moving forward. A situation like this only has the power that you give it (I.e attention).

Female associate here... don't apologize. It happens all the time. Apologizing would just be making something out of nothing. We daze off and stare at guys too, it happens, we're young, NBD.

Could be worse - at least you didn't get caught by a male associate staring at his boobs.

I am laughing hysterically, from title to final comment! This is REALLY FUNNY.

Ah, times have changed, but evolution hasn't. (Thankfully!)

As a woman, it would not bother me personally. It's perfect ammo for future use. Great opportunity to get you back, preferably using embarrassment tactics. All in good fun, of course.

I really would not apologize, and next time, pick another girl to stare at. Be stealth!

And yes, it's happened to me.

female analyst. apologizing makes something out of nothing. act normal. dont avoid her or anything. be normal and try to have your focused face on even if you're tired. one time my associate was like why are you giving me dirty looks? i was like I wasnt even looking at you. i am just tired

Are you ugly? If you're somewhat attractive, might be able to progress from glancing at jugs to drinking out those jugs?

Ahahhahah. 'ya the girl looked at me, I'm pretty sure she's down'

Mar 19, 2020

Double down. If she calls you out you can deny deny deny til you die.

Mar 19, 2020

I think you should immediately let the person know in a private setting if she'll even let you in a private setting that you cannot help yourself do you are recovering from the loss of - make up something like cat or puppy. tell her you want to give her a baby

Mar 20, 2020

where does one buy an apology baby?

Mar 19, 2020

Yup, say "Sorry, but I could not resist".

Mar 19, 2020

"Those babies were calling my name!!!"

Mar 19, 2020

Apologizing to her would mean talking to her. And if she's the type of person who thinks staring at boobs is inappropriate, that doesn't sound like a person you want to be talking to.

Tell her she makes a lovely couple

Mar 20, 2020

In all seriousness, under NO CIRCUMSTANCES should you speak to her about this. You could lose your job. You could get sued. If anyone (she or management) calls you on this stare, just tell them you actually were just spacing out, staring into the air and thinking about something else, likely due to overwork. You were tired and staring bleary-eyed into nothing, thinking about other stuff. You were NOT in any way staring at her. If she pushes the matter, continue to deny it. Don't turn a random stare into a career-ending mistake. Has no one on WSO heard about #metoo movement and sexual harassment? You want this kid walking into the HR buzzsaw? Dude, HR's job these days is to axe risks like you at the very idea of a SH lawsuit. Just keep your damn trap shut, and don't stare at colleague boobs anymore. You go take lunch trips to Palmdale if you have to, but keep yourself out of HR's way.
