Few Question Re: MBB Sponsorship

I'll be joining one of MBB in the fall, and I had a few questions regarding MBA sponsorship timing and chances.

  1. Is sponsorship a formalized process at MBB, or is it something that analysts need to push for in order to be considered?

  2. My understanding is that most analysts who leave for an MBA do so after their 2nd or 3rd year. Will an analyst's chances into a top program (H/S/W) significantly differ depending on whether they have 2 or 3 years of experience at the time of matriculation?

  3. How common is it for MBB analysts to go to B-school with 2 years experience upon matriculation? I did some digging on LinkedIn, but was having some trouble.

  1. It's a pretty formalized process.

  2. There's a lot that goes into your MBA admissions chances. Doing an extra year in and of itself isn't going to help you that much, but if you take that extra 3rd year and use it to do something cool like a transfer or a secondment, then that could differentiate you and go a long way.

  3. It's done, but it's rare, and becoming rarer from what I've seen.
