Finally getting a MBB interview!

Just wanted to share with someone. Finally got an interview at a MBB and I am beyond pumped.
My PhD is in hard sciences/engineering from a very small private school that isn't well known other than in engineering.
I graduated with my PhD 3 years ago, despite networking and applying multiple times didn't even get past the resume screen at any consulting firm. Started career at a some what well known and large engineering company and have worked there for the last 3 years.
Couple of months ago reached out to one of the guys i had cold emailed 3 years ago saying i was still interested. He was somewhat surprised that I didn't get an interview 3 years back. He handed my resume to a recruiter (was told that I didn't need to fill out online application- at the time thought this was the go away answer), recruiter reaches out to me last week saying that if I am still interested they will bring me in for an interview next month. (Will let me know about exact dates in early September)

Before when I couldn't get an interview, I could blame my lowly school. Now that I have a toe in the door I have no excuse to fall back on. Just started my case interviews practice this weekend.

network, network, network.

Update/Question:

My interview is set for November/December time period. And i am interviewing under the "experienced hire" category. Any ideas on how this format would be different or similar to the conventional recruiting cycle?
