Finding foreign financial statements
Have any of you found a good resource to pull financials in countries like the UK and Netherlands. You can go directly to the respective government sites but I used a database in the past that made it very easy to pull financials.
Does the company you are looking for have a double listing on NASDAQ/NYSE (major ones do). If yes, proceed to the databases you know. If not, look for the data at their respective stock exchanges (LSE and Euronext should be easy to pull data from). If it is not listed, but still public, go to their govt websites. Also, you will be able to pull some data from sell-side ER models if you have access to those.
I'm unfamiliar with Ex-US companies. It's possible to be a public company and not listed on an exchange? Can you provide an example?
A public company is not obliged to be listed, it can be traded at OTC (working with few of them in Asia). My brokerage/bank's shares, for instance, were OTC traded for years before the bank got admitted for Nasdaq listing.
EDIT: I also worked at a stock exchange for some time and yes, it is for sure possible to be public and not listed.
