Fired from Goldman, now I have an interview

Hi All!

So, long story short, I was fired from Goldman a couple years ago. It was my first job out of college, I was immature and I got caught in a stupid white lie. Nothing that would effect clients or bottom line or anything like that- basically I said I'd be in office, but I worked from home when my boss was out. Honestly, I don't even think I should have been fired but I didn't get along with my manager anyway and trust wouldn't have been able to be rebuilt.

Fast forward two years, I moved up to Associate at another big financial services firm and life has been good. I apply to jobs at Goldman here and there because, let's be honest, who could let go getting fired from Goldman? I have a phone interview for a position that directly aligns with my interest and experience.

I want to know how much should I disclose about my termination? I did tick off the box that I was a previously employee and it's on my resume so I'm sure they will ask why I left. Do I be completely honest? Do I give as little detail as possible? Does anyone know how much information and detail would be in my employee record? Would they go so far as to contact my manager and ask? FYI this position is in a completely different division that I was in previously.

Any advice, guidance, or insider info would be helpful!

Thanks! Jen
