it’s not a big deal, no one would care
It’s very common for people to keep themselves in the market all the time, you must worked at the most unprofessional company ever
Thanks for the response m8. I didnt mention there was also an expectation that analysts stay with the firm for at least a full 2-years, which may have been a factor
agreed with thhddd - any company that does this is unprofessional, regardless of whether it's a 2-year program or not. you have a good reason - however much into the stint you realized that you were more interested in AM than acq - i think any sensible employer would get it. on another note, how'd you get caught?
Since the people you are interviewing with think you still work at your old firm, I don't think they would reach out to their acquaintances to ask about you. I think it is kind of understood that you don't throw someone under the bus with their current employer like that.
You may run into trouble if you get an offer and they find out you were fired during the background check.
That is a chickenshit move on behalf of your former employer.
agree with this.
So many MDs act hard until someone wants to leave, and then they become tantrum-throwing toddlers. Unreal.
Lots of ego in this business unfortunately.
Why don't you tell us who this firm is so no one goes to work for people as weak as this?
Can't do mate, I've seen too many instances of monkies performing reddit-level due diligence here.....but I'll just advise you guys to always have a contingency plan if things go south
Seriously unprofessional move by your employer.
that's f'd up. good luck man... If I was interviewing someone and found out that happened I would only have sympathy for them and it would not affect my decision. I would think that their old shop is a POS though.
Should I switch coasts and move to the east?
Do what you gotta do, but I have a tough time believing these guys have that much pull that they could literally cause you to move across coasts. If they are that vindictive I would be surprised if they are very successful in the biz. This kind of shit gets around quick.
