First equity research report ever written
When was the first ever equity research report written? Does someone has any clue?
I am really interested in the history of equity research. Stocks started trading in the 17th century but ER only seems to have started in the post-world war II war. Was there really nothing in between? Any suggestion of book or pdf document on the topic is very much appreciated.
Cheers
This is totally off the top of my head, but I seem to recall that railroad companies in the 1800's were the first to receive what could vaguely be considered consistent equity research coverage.
Dig around in archives and you can find some of it: http://search.proquest.com/docview/125739328/F0206CA9D4CB48FCPQ/
In the event that you genuinely need a history in equity research I recommend you purchase the books utilized on Finest Assignments and begin contemplating all alone. Make sure to get books dated seventeenth century or all the more as of late, as a portion of the materials (laws, revealing/ accounting measures) have changed.
