Florida Monkeys

What's up guys. I'm going to be in Florida this summer interning, hopefully, everything is open by then. I'm planning on staying in the Downtown Orlando area (didn't get South Beach placement sadly). All else equal and that everything is normal in summer 2021, any areas you guys recommend for just being close to all the action on the weekends? The downtown Orlando apartments for 1 BR are about $1200-$1500 a month but they look great so money isn't a concern as long as it isn't Cali/NYC tier price.

Downtown orlando is trash to be completely honest. Everything is pretty dead at night and on the weekends. I'd recommend staying somewhere near Lake Eola if you're looking for decent nightlife. Not to completely dampen your excitement, but growing up in the area I find the entire city to be rather underwhelming.

On the plus side, all Orlando clubs and bars are at full capacity as of right now, so it will surely stay that will until next summer.

DeSantis is the man and opened up all of Florida so it’s a full go (grew up in FL). Honestly downtown Orlando isn’t great compared to Fort Lauderdale / Miami and Tampa but I would recommend getting an apartment right downtown to be close to bars / restaurants. There’s still a lot going on and you aren’t far from the beaches so it’s not too bad.

Thanks guys. I checked out the bigger apartment complexes around Lake Eola and Winter Park but I don't think they offer 3-month leases, minimum is like 7-12 months. I'll keep an eye out for an AirBnB or sublease from a UCF student though.

Winter Park is great but more of an older crowd unless Rollins is in session. It does give you a nice area with a short commute to downtown and may be easier to find Airbnb or short term leases. Would recommend Ivanhoe or places on/around Church street or Wall Street downtown. Those will be the two largest areas for nightlife and where you will find a younger crowd. I like downtown Orlando and usually there are some fun bars and clubs that are pretty fun on the weekends and some weeknights.
