For exp. bankers- what's the best financial valuation/modeling software?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Anything else besides Dealmaven?

What's the best software for financial valuation... I use excel!
Live and die by Excel alone, with some personalized macros and customizations. I personally am not a fan of those pre-fab software packages. They're good for some things, just not as flexible as a model you build yourself.
excel, excel, excel if you're doing it yourself, and "the intern who can model really well in excel" if you're not.

thanks- please allow me to clarify my question.
my md had asked me to look into value-added software that has built-in valuation/modeling templates for different industry verticals (i.e. retail, mftg, etc.)... i tried doing a google search, but couldn't come up with anything substantial. anyone know anything about these add-on software interfaces?
I'm having difficulty making sense of your MD's request... valuation is generally the same regardless of industry. Why does he want a modeling template for an industry vertical? You must work for a very small shop.

Based on the people I've talked to in RE, across the board everyone uses Argus for financial modeling/analysis.
Is there something like this for IB/PE?
If not, why not?
I'm guessing it's probably because banks are paying analysts to create the model so there is no reason to pay to subscribe to an Argus-like software, but I'd be interested to hear the thoughts from others.
Maybe I'm wrong and there is something out there.
bump. interested in this as well.
What will analysts have to do then? :)
Yeah, I mean, come on, like - where do you think they get THEIR models from?
