For those who have had to provide references in the past
Guys, I have two really quick questions.
If you are looking to switch firms after 3-4 months, and are asked to provide references,
- what type of information is verified from your references generally?
- plus, if you were around for 3 - 4 months only at your previous place and were asked to give references, are your references from your previous place usually willing to give you a good recommendation or do ppl become anal?
In college/uni, profs. were very selective about who they would recommend. I am not sure if the same thing can be said for IB. I would think ppl should generally be responsive to your need/want for changing firms.
I haven't burned any bridges, and people generally like me on a personal level, but I am not sure if 3-4 months has been a suffice time period for me to ask the senior people in my team for good references. By senior, I am thinking VPs/Directors, plus a 1st year associate in my case because I worked solidly with him for 3 months.
Thanks a ton.
