Foreign vs Domestic Suit Quality?
Hey WSO,
Any suit connoisseurs want to comment on the quality of a suit made in places like China, HK, etc? Say I'm paying $200.
Reason I ask is that I got a suit made in Shanghai, and it feels and fits great and everyone tells me it looks good, but I haven't worked in a BB and don't know anything about suit tailoring or quality.
Am I buying crap? Or should I buy a few more when I go back?
Thanks
if that picture is of you and your suit i would say you have achieved sartorial perfection, my good sir.
Indeed, but sadly I'm not him. I'm the green guy on the right.
At that price point, if it fits, looks good and isn't falling apart it is a good deal. Also, assuming you're still in college or are an analyst it hardly matters if you're wearing Jos. A. Bank or Kiton; it would actually probably be prudent to stick with the former. That being said, if you're out in Shanghai maybe cough up a little bit more money ~$600-$800 from a reputable tailor (ex. WW Chan-- may be too expensive). But sounds like you have it good.
Brooks Brothers suiting essentials (~$700) are made in Thailand. I don't think you need to worry that foreign = poor quality. Just make it sure it looks/fits nice and you're fine.
