Former Marine Corps Officer Selection Officer Headed to MBA-Ask me anything!

WSO,

I've been trolling this forum for months as I try to figure out what to do next with my life (conclusion=not IB). It's been a great resource so I'll try to contribute something. I'm leaving the USMC a tad shy of my seven year mark-my last two years spent as an OSO in a large metro area. I'm headed to one of the top non-M7 bschools this fall, and I'm looking to go into a F500 General Management program. I ultimately concluded that the IB/consulting track just wasn't compatible with my family life (my brother is a big 4 consultant so I've had a peak behind that curtain as well). Like many other vets headed to bschool, I have a wife/kids in tow.

Background:
-UG from a top 10 LAC. Decent GPA, econ major, varsity athlete, some pretty good academic awards.
-1 year work experience immediately after college at a boutique consulting firm in the energy industry. I couldn't join the military right after college due to health issues.
-Logistics officer with two deployments to Afghanistan with infantry battalions. Some very good Fitness Reports (military version of performance evaluations) that led to good rec letters for school.
-I spent my last two years in the Corps as an OSO (officer recruiter) with mixed success. Diversity recruiting for the Marines is an uphill battle.
-690 GMAT (40V/44Q/8IR/6AWA). The quant section kicked my ass. My good grades in calc/stats/econ as an UG probably made up for this.
-Attending Ross/Fuqua/Darden tier school.

So please, ask away, especially if you are considering joining the military or you are in the military and are getting ready to start the admissions gauntlet this fall.
