Freshman at Williams—how to start off strong?

[moved from the job search forum, not sure where exactly this belongs]

I’ll be a freshman at Williams College this fall. As of now, I’m considering majoring in math and econ. I understand that this may be a bit early to think about careers, but I also don’t want to be ‘left behind’ if that makes sense, which is why I’m asking questions now. Do Williams students generally fare well in the world of finance, which I understand is competitive?

I applied early decision to Williams, which is binding, so I don’t really know where else I would’ve gotten in. I was deciding between applying early to Williams, Amherst, and Brown. Hypothetically, I would choose HYPSM, Wharton, and Columbia over Williams; however, I would choose Williams over most other colleges, including Ivies like Dartmouth. Of course, it’s not at all likely that I would have been able to make such a decision anyway.
