Freshman Summer Internship Cancelled
I am a freshman at a semi-target school and was able to secure an internship in the M&A department at a F500 insurance broker. I just found out today that the internship is going to be cancelled due to COVID-19. My goal is to work in IB at a BB when I graduate and I felt this was going to be a great way to get ahead. Does anyone have advice on what to do next? I've been searching for opportunities all day but there is not much.

The same company offered me a final round interview for next year. Should I bank on that or is there a chance to get a summer analyst position as a Sophomore?

Hey, just wanted to say that you really shouldn't stress out about first year internships, and even second year internships aren't as important as a lot of people on here would have you believe. I had a really bad "accounting" internship my first year (ultra small company, all I did was sort through invoices) and a really weird data science internship in another country my second year. This summer, I'll be interning at an EB.
Especially since a lot of people are gonna be in your position this year, I really doubt not doing an internship this summer will matter at all. In fact, I think you may be quite lucky, since you have a great excuse to get one last summer vacation in!
That's a great point and I appreciate your response! congrats on EB!
