Freshman with no idea what to expect
Everyone knows that getting something as a freshman is hard, but after cold-calling over 30 places over the course of a month, I got an offer at a small firm. They do commercial real estate financing, but I'm not sure exactly what that is. Can anyone tell me what to expect very broadly? Also, is this good to have on my resume if I want to explore other avenues next summer (particularly quantitative and sales/trading roles)? Thanks guys.
Yes considering the typical progression has been:
Freshman year (High GPA) --> Summer as PWM --> Sophmore Year --> Boutique IB/Some finance related internship --> Junior Year --> IB Summer (BB/MM/Boutique/IB) and get a FT offer (END)
If not happy:
Senior Year --> FT interviews
Also, you're asking if this internship is good for your future summer internship goals, well, do you have any other options?
Well I have some other places I've been in contact with that are on the fence and I feel I may get with a few more calls and a little luck. They are mainly equity research.
Good start! Also, hats off to your initiative. Many freshmen just sit on their ass. You're to be commended for getting off yours and targeting an internship ASAP. Good job!
He only hustled because I told him to hustle.
