From actuarial science to investment banking?

Hi everyone! Just wondering if you have advice for someone who wants to switch into investment banking? I currently work as an actuarial analyst full time. Graduated from a non-target school with 3.9+ GPA May 2017. I developed my passion for investment & finance towards mid senior year and by that time I have already accepted my full time offer and I was hoping that I would like doing actuarial science FT. Well now I have worked two months and always think about investment banking.. so I figure I should at least apply to some analyst positions and want to ask:

1) Is reading up a Wall Street Prep guide useful in terms of interview preparation (hopefully I get some interviews)? I have taken classes on basic accounting, DCF, comparable analysis, basic lbo model. I can try to build some case study models on some companies (just to practice), will that help?

2) How do you all network? I am frustrated b/c my school doesn't have many alum that work in IBD. Eh I tried to send messages to people on linkedIn but rarely do people respond. Do you all go to some career events? I live in MA so I think going to NYC on weekends shouldn't be too bad.

3) Any recruitment tips? I read up lots of things on what investment banking does.. but I never knew the recruiting process could be so intimidating... very different from actuarial science and I hope to learn from you all who have gone through it!

Thanks :))))))
