From consulting to asset management
Hello everyone,
this is my very first post, and I would like to share with you the reason why I have decided to join this forum.
I currently work in Consulting - Financial risk management - as a Senior associate, trying to shift my career in asset management / equity research. Despite being quite happy with my current job, both in terms of career development and work-life balance (yes, in consulting it is very hard to balance work and private life, however with the right experience it is possible to reach a work-life balance), my true desire is to work in asset management.
In terms of hard skill, I usually deal with financial modelling, financial instruments pricing, evaluation of statistics models, as well as design and implementation of systems of financial risk management. I have a deep knowledge of many financial software, and some programming languages.
However, I understand that without experience in asset management is very hard to get an interview. For this reason, and with a very positive mindset, I decided to join this forum to get as many advice as possible, in order to start building a network or at least gain some knowledge about understanding what it takes to make such a shift in someone's career.
Please guys share all your insights.
Cheers,
