From real to fast money - Credit Portfolio Manager

Hi there,

I'm a junior portfolio manager (straight out of school) at a tier 2 life insurance company in Europe. I'm managing roughly 1 Bn mainly in high beta credit. My goal as always been to join the HF industry but the job they offered me was quite nice regarding my level of experience.

The former PM had a portfolio rotation of 2 to 3 times a year but long only. I'm also co-managing a total return fund (long biased but also allow short).

What could be the plan to switch to the HF industry ? I was thinking about staying at my current company 2 or 3 years and then try the switch giving me some time to build a track-record. Or applying to a trading role at BB via associate program and then make the switch. What do you think ?

Thanks a lot,
