Well, usually they are already closed. But, ever since the financial crisis, the schedules have been a bit mixed up. There is definitely still some hiring going on. I know some friends who are still having interviews with MS and GS, although they sent their applications out in October...so not entirely sure where you will stand sending out apps now.

Besides BBs, some of the MMs are definitely still hiring. I believe Jefferies, Houlihan Lokey, potentially Rothschild might still be interviewing. Given that 2011 is supposed to be a better year and some banks had short periods of hiring freezes until the end of 2010, there might be another round of hiring kicking in early 2011. Just apply and network your ass off, at the end that's what really matters.

I'm in the same position and while I plan on sticking to MM and boutiques, I am not sure how to land interviews at a BB without alumni help. If your spring semester is starting just go and ask nicely for career services to 'give you names and numbers.'

true. I once networked with a VP/MD at Lazard and basically asked him after a while if they were still looking to hire someone ANYWHERE. I told him that I'd be in NYC on a specific day in March and would love to come by the office to meet anyone there. Well, I ended up having an interview with their ECM team and while I sadly didn't get an offer, I still managed to get through to the head of the group and interview with him...they still liked me and just told me to apply again at a later date...anything is possible!!!
