Full-Time MBA right out of undergrad?
I have a couple of full ride scholarships to non-target schools. With a phenomenal GPA (4.0+) and GMAT (High 700s) is there a reasonable chance I get into a MBA program like Gabelli or Stern?

Get a job, work a few years, and then go back. Don't waste an mba when you're 21. Most top schools want you to have experience first anyway.
Would a non-IB job for a couple of years be the best choice then go back and get an MBA and then shoot for a job in IB?
How old are you? The best option would be to do IB out of undergrad if that’s what you want. Otherwise you can do pretty much anything and pivot to IB later on through a top mba.
Don’t get an MBA until A) You’ve got at least 10 people on payroll working under you full-time or B) Youre old enough to be trusted to manage junior employees. That comes after 3-5 years of business experience minimum. It isn’t a theory degree it’s meant for practical application.
who do you know who has at least 10 people reporting to them at 25 lol?
probably only army officers have that much management responsibility before b school
the most ive seen is people who were manager level at consulting/tax firms and maybe had 3 direct reports
Well in theory if you’re an associate at a bank all analysts are “under you” so that could count?
Don’t do this. You won’t be considered for any top jobs and you will be wasting your silver bullet for a career change later on.
Mf you are in hs. Why are you asking about mbas?
I don’t want to get into six-figure debt for an undergrad from Fordham and then be left with no job in IB. I’m wondering how to get a job in IB while not throwing myself into a ridiculous amount of debt. An MBA sounded to me like a way to get a job in IB while not getting in six figure debt.
Have you looked into the cost of an MBA? Not sure why you're under the impression getting an MBA is inexpensive. Unless you get a scholarship, it's going to cost, all in, ~100k+ per year. Business schools look for candidates with work experience for a reason and most won't even consider someone without it. Even if you did manage to get in somewhere you're going to be competing for IB jobs with a ton of other people who have significant work experience/accomplishments and will have an advantage over you in interviews.
LOOOOL
you think some shit-tier MBA letting in college kids without experience is going to help you land in banking instead?
lmao
High Schooler considering MBA before starting college... a new low. This site's quality is deteriorating fast.
Says the ER loser
oof! ouchies!!
Why people hating on this kid? Ambitious senior trying to figure out life. Agree with everyone though, don't waste the MBA going right from undergrad. Get the best job possible and then apply after 3-4 years. There is no discussion on this.
Secondly, are you from NY? You seem really focused on NYU/Fordham. If you want IB, then transferring would make a lot of sense but it doesn't have to be a NYC school.
Fordham just seemed like the best of the choices I had to end up transferring big somewhere, and if I got transfers rejected I could still network from due to being in the Bronx. Currently in OH.
Nothing wrong with Fordham but there are many schools that are better for IB than Fordham. Don't focus too much on geography but rather quality of placement. And of course go somewhere where they party a lot.
I don't know why you are even considering Fordham. It's a non-target and it's costing you $180k. Only pay that kind of money if you get into a T25 school.
