Future major in cs or finance
edit: guys this was answered back in april. I already submitted my classes, I'm majoring in CS. thanks for the continued support, however.
I know this question has probably been asked like 100,000 times but I have a bit of a different reasoning that just picking between two majors so hear me out.
Some background about me, I'll be attending redacted in the fall and I have to schedule my classes with them soon and when I applied to the school I was admitted to their engineering school as I intended to go for computer science. I've been thinking if I should attempt to switch into the business school at xx and the process is kind of difficult so I was wondering if it's worth it.
If I do decide to switch, I'd have to take both the basic requirements my first year in case my application to xxx got denied.
Now why I'm still considering comp sci, I've been programming since I was 9 years old and I've heavily studied AI through free courses and self study for several years now as it's something that fascinates me. Seeing as quite a bit of firms are heading towards a technical overhaul would it be better for me to study comp sci and focus in AI and then self teach myself Finance, or should I attempt to make the swap to a finance degree and continue self teaching myself programming?
Small update I didn't post yesterday, I realize that a lot of IB work is not applicable to comp sci but I was thinking a quant role would also be an option out of undergrad.
You can get into IB regardless of your major but you can't become a quant or a coder as a finance major. If you can handle the intensity of CS then I'd say cs is better because it provides more options. You can also get a finance minor or join finance clubs to demonstrate your interest in the financial field.
C++ for Dummies, 5th edition will always hold a spot on my bookshelf. And yeah, that's pretty much the same thing my parents say, albeit a bit differently. ("why waste what you've done in computers for a finance degree??"). Appreciate the input.
Dude if you were a coding beast then please don't waste your talent lol. College finance is pretty easy to comprehend plus you get to learn everything in training if you get an IB gig. Good luck!
I would do COMPUTER SCIENCE. In the near future, the finance ECOSYSTEM will be DISRUPTED by 1) ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE and 2) UNDERGROUND SEX DUNGEONS.
thanks for the support on my 2 month old thread.
Please be careful with the sex dungeons. You'll have your eye shot out.
actually there are already underground sex dungeons in San Francisco. U just gotta know the right people and have the right cash flow (upper class romanesque lust dungeon)
