Future of Sales

Hello. I was wondering what you all think of the future of sales in Investment Banks/Broker Dealers. More specifically where do see the future of vanilla equity/fixed income sales going over the next 5/10 years. Is it possible that with the increased use of technology in sales and trading that the role of the vanilla salesman will be made redundant?

 

There's a million posts on S & T going away because of computers. In the case of 'Vanilla' sales I don't think there is any difference than what we are seeing and will expect to see across the industry.

You're going to a see a down sizing, and a lot of Traders and being roll up to salesmen as well, but you're not going to see it completely disappear, especially because of computers. Like I've said before, good companies will trade with both strategies, the buy side LIKES human interaction, and successful prop trading will need to implement several different strategies to succeed, some which are computer generated and some which are mathematically and numerically generated.
