Gap Year?

Hi everyone,
What are your thoughts on taking a gap year to work a year in IB and then to finish your studies with already a full year of experience? Is it worth it? Will it give you a significant competitive advantage?
Thanks.

Highly doubt you'd be able to get a FT position in IB without a college degree, try do an internship either in your penultimate year or find some off cycle internships just like everyone else does it, then finish your degree and search full time employment

Employers don't really look at gap years positively, from my own experience whichever one of my friends took a gap year they just went to travel around Europe and Asia and get absolutely hammered every single day. In school we were advised to hide our gap years in our CV as best as we could

Best of luck either way to you

Thank you for the answer. I am french and french companies do not offer summer internships. I already have offers in france for 6 months internships but I cannot accept them because of the time constraint. Therefore, my plan was to do two 6 months internships after my penultimate year and then to go back to the U.S. with significantly more experience. This would allow me to land a FT position or an internship in the U.S. with the Visa being less of an issue because of that added experience. Does that sound like a more reasonable idea to you?

Hmmm maybe, that doesn't sound that bad, but I think it'd be a bit too much to do two internships and then search for a third one in the US as well. Do either one or two, finish school and go search for full time employment right after graduating from college. Why don't you want to work in Paris though? From what I've heard it's a nice place to work, especially Lazard in Paris if you want to go into an EB and your English seems to be quite good and plus you speak French as it is

If you want to do an internship in the US, you should maybe try for an off-cycle internship in the U.S. Too many internships in your homeland will discredit your credentials if your goal isn't to stick around in Asia.

Can't intern in the States off-cycle due to Visa issues... :/ (I would only be able to get my CPT a year after returning to the States) I am aware that too many internships back home could hurt my prospects... But would that be the same if I worked in other countries in Asia? (Singapore/HK/etc.)
