General Hiring Timeline RE

I have a research internship at a decent size public REIT this summer.

I'm a rising senior and am pretty new to CRE in general. I'm wondering what hiring is like for entry level jobs straight out of undergrad. How common are fulltime offers from rising senior summer internships? Do most firms start entry level positions in may/june or is there a pretty big variety?

Are you saying if you got an offer from a good firm in your area of interest that starts in June you would pass that up to go on vacation for 6 months? If so, yea, that is a very very bad idea. Now if you can negotiate a late start date with a firm then go for it. In any case your only focus should be on securing an offer not fucking vacation.

It is a mixture. A lot of the smaller groups don't have set schedules and just hire whenever they get busy enough to need an additional person. The places with the set analyst programs stick with the normal fall recruiting b-school recruiting.

Almost all RE firms will not have set recruiting schedules. That said, there are still a few Analyst programs which recruit: - Madison International Realty - Starwood - Blackstone - Beacon Capital Partners - JPMAM - GS + MSREI (sometimes? Not too sure on this one) - Eastdil - LaSalle Investment Management

I might be missing a few, but there are really not a whole lot.

I was in a similar position to you. Shoot me a PM for some more info/advice if you're interested.

Also, I'm still really confused on this whole rising concept.

Are you in an internship between junior and senior year and planning on graduating in May of 2018? Are you asking advice for if you should travel from May 18-Dec 18 and start a job in Jan 19?

RE jobs are in pretty high demand, just look at the RE job hunt thread, I'd focus on networking to try and find one in your desired market and see if you could do an Aug 18 start. Giving you one last summer break and a couple months to enjoy the California weather. I would not turn down a job because you want a vacation, that type of thinking will lead to a much longer, involuntary, vacation (Unemployment).

yeah sorry my post wasn't super clear. I would never turn down a good offer to go vacation. Was just wondering if later start dates are even possible with people right out of undergrad or if companies usually want people to start right after graduation.
