I’m not sure why I’m receiving so much hate when I simply want to help. I’ve been lurking around and reading posts here which I found very helpful and want to genuinely give back. I’m a first gen student from an immigrant family who worked really hard academically and professionally to get to where I am today. I want to share my experience and help others. If you think I’m bragging or trolling then so be it. Simply ignore and move on. If anyone wants help I’m more than happy to help.

I started networking during fall of my sophomore year in trying to find a sophomore summer internship as well as establishing connections for junior summer. I tried to talk to at least 7-10 people within different teams in repe (acq,am,debt, investor relations etc) to help craft my story on why I want to apply to a certain group and not others. These are for my top firms that I really want to get into. Other firms I talked to 1-2 people before submitting my application. I will be on the AM team for junior internship.

Hey, congrats! Not sure what all the hate is about and its understandable to be excited. Would love to hear how you went about finding firms you wanted to apply to. Also what was your experience with technical portions of the interview (case studies, modeling, mm questions, etc.)

To be honest there wasn’t any thought process or strategy that I used to find the firms I wanted. I basically applied to all the “top” firms there are and hoped for the best. It’s a sweatshop anywhere you go so I just wanted a good name for my resume.

Regarding my interview experience, I bought the interview guide from Leveraged Breakdowns and studied it. Pretty much all the questions I got was covered there + questions about my experience at the firm I’m working at right now. There’s no modeling test for junior hire but there is for FT hire. For my super day at most firms, I had to talk to 3-4 people. I imagine it’s different pre-COVID but I pretty much recruited virtually so have no experience there.

Wanted to drop in to say congrats. Good stuff kid. Don't mind the hate, lot of jealousy and losers out there dying for your spot, but can't have it because they spend too much time cyber trash talking people on this site.

Stating that you're asian, doesn't particularly help. But who cares, it's 2021, so people will have to accept that fact that minorities deserve just as much as white males for all the effort and quality work they produce.

Keep up the good work.

Thanks for the kind words. I didn’t benefit from any diversity recruiting and went through traditional recruiting. Had to work really hard and networked my ass off. Wanted to start this thread to give back and people can shit however much they want but I’m still happy to answer any genuine questions. Cheers and have a great rest of your week.
