Georgetown MSB vs UC Berkeley Undergrad
Hi everyone, I am a high school senior who has finally reached the end of the college admission process and am hoping to pursue a career in either IBD or Consulting. I am lucky enough to have been accepted to UC Berkeley (pre-Haas major) and Georgetown McDonough School of Business, but I'm really having a hard time deciding between the two, so I'm looking for some opinions on the schools.
Not gonna lie, I'm fucking lost between these two. I've been attached to UC Berkeley for a while. Opening that decision was truly the most anxiety-inducing thing of my life. After getting in (and having a disappointing ivy day), I thought for sure I'd commit Berkeley. But then I got into Georgetown out of the blue today, and I just don't know what to do. I would really appreciate some perspectives as to how these to schools stack up for IBD/MBB placement and prestige in general. At the moment, I feel like I'm leaning Berkeley just because I like the atmosphere (I feel like Berkeley will push me to develop my work ethic), and I also think I'd like to live in SF/Cali in general, but almost everyone I know is telling me to go to Georgetown because its the better school. Any advice?

I would go to Georgetown. I have friends at both, and while you may think a positive of UCB is that you "will develop a work ethic", this just means you will be slaughtered with unnecessary work. Georgetown is more selective, less intense, possesses similar opportunities into IB, has a more diverse student body with varied interests, and quite frankly will be more fun.
Although G-Town is slightly more 'prestigious', if you end up choosing a uni based solely on prestige despite the vast differences, idk what to tell you besides no one will give a sh** if you went to one or the other.
This is exactly what I needed to hear. Thank you. I def think gtown will be easier, but I’m still gonna tour the two and feel out the atmospheres. Think it might just come down to where I want to live.
