Georgetown University MSF Program - In Person
Hey guys, just wanted to give everyone a heads up. Just spoke with the program and they are going to be rolling out a flex option for students. There will still be the remote option for those working around the country, but there will also now be an on campus option for those local or wanting to go to school in person. Of course, for those doing the online option but close to campus you can truly blend the program how you want it.
I am going to learn more about it in the coming week, but with application season heating up/winding down I thought it would be welcomed news to get this out to all of you asap.
Stay tuned for more!
I'd say that ought to remove most of the concerns people had about the program...
Their Master of Real Estate will be effectively "flex" this year too. They're launching an online-only MSRE this summer and people taking classes full time and in-person will be able to register for the online courses as well.
As a current student of the real estate program, I'm pretty pissed off about the online program. I'm not saying it completely devalues the program, but it starts to water it down. Plus, doing the program online remotely actually robs the student of the ACTUAL reason for the program--networking and moving up the ranks in the Mid-Atlantic real estate market. The online program just solidifies my belief that the program is meant to be a cash cow. In defense of the costs, however, they are among the lowest I've seen, but it's still an obvious cash cow. The online program is probably a way of subsidizing the costs of the in-person group, so I guess that's the silver lining.
I wouldn't worry too much. One of my best friends is a graduate of the program you're in. Absolutely skyrocketed his career.
Yeah, I agree. It's pretty cool how responsive they are. I bet they find that more students are doing in person than online with this option.
I'll keep everyone posted.
There's at least a little crossover between the two programs, too. The head of the MSRE program teaches one of the MSF electives...
Still no scholly?:P
can u shed more light on the flex option? and what are the other options? on their website they list the following:
The 20-month MSF online program consists of 32 credits:
Six core courses Three selective courses A weeklong On-site Residency Capstone Global Consulting Project
@TNA" I should probably just do a search, but have you ever done an AMA or discussed your own path w/r/t having an MSF? I ended up choosing a PT MBA but your posts (and website) were a lot of help when I was still deciding.
... did the tuition for gtowns MSF really rise to 70k? -_-
The tuition increases are absolutely ridiculous and egregious. There is no way you can justify paying $70K/year for an unproven MSF program.
Wait folks are dropping 70 large for an online thing?
Can't you just get the textbooks off torrents, chit like that...cost: $0.00
For an online degree, it should be like $45k max.
More like 10k
Indiana online is 35 or so and I think most in person MSF are 40ish?
They range. Most ate in the 50-60 range. MIT is hIgher.
Keep in mind that part of gtowns tuition includes an on campus week and an international trip. Take that out and the program is like 60-65. High, but you don't need to give up your job while ypu get the degree.
My personal opinion is that.. Georgetown is a nice brand. However, the Online thing will make OCR obsolete---take the McDonough Career Services to your advantages by all means, but if you're not in classrooms you're losing out on many things to connect oneself to Georgetown experiences. Additionally, the tuition is steep... ROI is going down.
