Getting an internship or job
I have decided to go to a CC, but the problem is that living in Oakland, where can I find internships at a BB PWM or HF?
P.S. What is an SA?

Career Resources
I have no work experience..that included an income.
Hey man Im also going the CC route. In terms of getting a BB PWM internship, your best bet is cold-calling financial advisers and people who work in that branch. If you have no work experience, get involved in student clubs or start some finance-related club to show your interest. If you can get some part time office clerk/admin assistant job to try to have something on your resume if you dont already. You cant rely on your school to provide you with solid internships, surprisingly services like craigslist sometimes post legit finance related internships so definetly always check that.
HF's will be harder, try networking very hard. Coming from a CC you will be looked down upon immediately especially in the bay area where you have Cal to compete with. So your best shot is connecting with an individual in the firm who can get past that CC on your resume. Check with friends and family to see if they know anyone in finance and then try and build a relationship with that person so that you can leverage it later.
SA stands for Summer Analyst
Hope this helps
Thanks alot. -I am trying to transfer after two years to Haas. On the topic of HF, I have no family or friends who are in HF. Is Chase a BB PWn?
Chase is the commercial banking side of JP Morgan Chase. So no. The main BBs that hand out PWM internships are Merrill Lynch, UBS, and Morgan Stanley. Again networking is gonna be you best shot for HF, you dont have to know people directly in HF's but maybe you might know someone who does and he can set up a call or something. You have to get more creative coming from a cc because you dont have the resources of someone at a large school behind you. Try to find any connection you can, even see if your friends from high school might know someone. Good luck.
oakland? you might be able to find some in east bay, pleasonton, walnut creek, or fremont there are a couple boutiques around. your best bet is to find something in SF bud.
Are you a URM?
First off congrats on winning. Bragging rights? Hahaha. Free invite for football. Secondly, look for internship programs geared towards URMs (INROADS,SEO) and the like.
I am going to S.F to look for jobs. BTW INROADs isnt taking applicants anymore.
I'm saying for next year... this year you just have to network, cold call and get lucky.
