Getting an MBA/JD to work as in-house council at a VC

What are your thoughts on getting a JD/MBA? I’ve heard mixed reviews across the internet whether it’s worth it or not but wanted to throw it out there anyway.

For a little context, I currently work at a startup accelerator & am about a year out of college. I’ve done several different roles & have been promoted twice since starting, but am currently running most of our networking, partnerships w/ other companies, programming, events + valuations. I like my current company but would consider applying maybe 2/3 years from now (assuming we aren’t acquired sometime in between).

As for college, I went to a public ivy (one of the top schools in my state, top 35 in the country), did okay for grades, good leadership & majored in government/political science and minored in econ + business.

Ultimately, I’d like to work in VC - most likely on the contract side of things. However, I’m not sure if it’s worth the time vs. just law school or just MBA, or if my work/education will make me standout in a good way.

I’m a legacy at several of the T14 law schools & top 10 MBA programs but I don’t want to spend money on apps/LSAT/GMAT if my dream job isn’t realistically achievable from a joint degree.
