getting the job offer

Hey guys quick question as I am not too experienced. When you get the phone call from HR or whomever, with them offering you the position.. do you say right away about the new salary amount you want or do you wait a couple days to review the offer then come back with negotiating? I'm just curious because I'm only a year out of school and when I got my offer for current job I pretty much just verbally accepted it right then and there. I just want to be prepared for when I get a new offer.

Your offer should come with a written letter. If it's not written, you don't have an offer. Regardless of how many promises they make. Once you get that, you can get the person who hired you on the phone (not HR) and try to negotiate.
