Getting through the lows

I'm 0/3 on interviews in banking and for at least 2 of them I really felt like they went well and I had a shot. I'm from a non-target and I would gratefully work at any tier of firm. Has anyone experienced a similar situation? How did you get through it?

I feel you man. I was in the interview process the past couple of weeks. Got the interview through a recruiter. The whole time the recruiter was hyping me up, telling me I was the #1 pick for job. I did a couple of interviews, a modelling test, and a superday. At the end of the superday, the analyst said they wanted to hire me, but got overruled.

End of the day, just have to keep plugging. The other day I heard this phrase, and it might help you; "If you hit a rock 100 times and nothing happens, then you hit it the 101st time and it splits in half, the experienced stone mason knows it wasn't the 101st hit that did anything, but the 100 that came before it."

Hey, this is going to be random, but I just wanted to say thank you for this. I read this post when I was going through a really tough time in recruiting and starting to feel hopeless, but this quote was exactly what I needed to keep grinding. I put it as my phone wallpaper and everything as a daily reminder, and today I got a job offer and am almost done with two other processes that look like they’ll be good. So truly, thank you for sharing this quote, and just wanted to let you know you had a hand in shaping someone’s future lol.

I know a guy who was in final year in uni and was applying hopefully to any summer internship he could get. Got rejected at multiple first, second and final rounds. By November/December, he only had one application left open for which he had a final round.

That was for Goldman Sachs, IBD. He got the job three years ago and he's now killing it. Keep trying, some people get lucky and others don't, but by the Law of Large Numbers if you put in the work you'll get there!

I went 0 and 3 in big tech sales 2 months ago.

Got to the end of a tech start up that probably everyone on here knows, and didn't get it because one person out of 5 was like...nah.

You just gotta keep going, and brush it off.
